Tips for Staying Safe in Your Vehicle

person drivingAt Cincinnati Rehabilitation Center, we aim to help patients of all walks of life live happier and healthier. Sometimes, that means helping you prevent pain before it starts! While we’re always here if you’re injured in a car accident, we thought we’d provide some tips for staying safe in your vehicle so that you (hopefully) don’t have to seek pain relief from us.

Here are a few ideas!

With so much construction non-stop in Cincinnati, it’s a good idea to leave for work a bit earlier than you normally would. That might help you beat rush hour traffic in the morning, which means less of a chance that you’ll have to share the road with frustrated drivers that could end up causing accidents.

Make sure you’re practicing proper driving posture. While you may have been taught to keep your hands at 10 and 2 when you drive, the recommendations for today are actually 4 and 8. You always want to make sure you’re sitting straight back into your seat and not leaning, or driving with slouch.

Keep your phone out of your hand-and better yet, try not to use it while you drive. Phones are a leading cause of distraction when it comes to auto accidents. If you must use your phone while driving, connect it to your vehicle with a cord or bluetooth so you’re able to control it with your voice instead of having to take your eyes off the road.
